Local Program Position Openings

Juvenile Court of Cobb County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program
Temporary Program Assistant (No Benefits)

The Program Assistant provides administrative support to the Program Coordinator and staff support to the CASA volunteers to ensure that children involved with the CASA program receive sound advocacy and early permanency planning.

The Program Assistant should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social service-related field given preference
  • Ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of advocacy and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to conduct court file and database searches
  • Effective data entry and filing skills
  • Knowledge of juvenile court and deprivation proceedings given preference
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality a must
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Access given preference
  • Ability to communicate in the Spanish language given preference
  • Commitment to CASA’s goals and mission

Essential Functions

  • Provide office support (file court orders, petitions, reports, etc.; research case histories; compile and maintain case files; maintain CASA Outcomes Management Evaluation Tool (COMET) database; maintain CASA appointment order log; track upcoming court dates
  • Provide support for volunteers (occasionally attend court hearings, distribute CASA reports to  courtroom clerk and attorneys, document hearing information)
  • Coordinate interstate and intrastate courtesy home visits with nationally affiliated CASA/Guardian ad Litem programs
  • Assist with volunteer training preparations
  • Assist Program Coordinator as needed
